The rules are quite simple. It is a secret swap. However, the swap coordinators advise you of your swap partners likes and dislikes. International swaps (outside of the USA) must be posted by 1 March 2010. Quilts must be a minimum of 12" x 12" to a maximum of 24" x 24".
This seamed like a nice easy little project to undertake...until I got my swap partner's likes and dislikes. Hmmm, need to reassess my fabric stash.
So today, two very pregnant friends (one due next Tuesday and Me due in April) and one mother-in-law visiting from Canada (the French speaking, quilting enthusiast kind) drove to some of my favourite quilt stores around Brissie.
All I can say is that the fabric which I have chosen from her list of likes - I don't have any of its kind in my stash. This could prove a challenge. But then, this is what it is all about - to challenge yourself.
I have decided to use an Australian pattern for the mini quilt out of the book Material Obsession. The pattern is only one panel out of a larger quilt pattern which I love. I have then chosen to use some various Kaffe Fassett fabrics. As I said, I have not one scrap of Kaffe in my stash. I also bought some lovely Perle 8 thread to hand quilt the project. So here is what I chose...
Stay tuned for updates on how the challenge progresses.
Also a quick reminder that the BrisStyle Indie Designer Markets are on 6 March 2010 at Saint Augustine's Church Grounds, Racecourse Road, Hamilton. Yes, I will be selling Maisie Dolls and other lovelies there!!!
